Siam Reap

No visit to Cambodia would be complete without a trip to see the ancient capital of Cambodia, Ankor Wat, so off we went. We took another Cambodian speed boat from Phnom Phen to Siem Reap. This boat was a bit bigger than the one from Vietnam to Cambodia plus we had an opportunity to sit outside on the sundeck.

Of our three days in Siem Reap two were spent visiting the ancient ruins and learning about Cambodian history. This small, often forgotten country has quite a rich heritage and during 13th and 14th century claimed all of present day Thailand, Laos plus the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam as their own.

I was expecting to be bored after one day of temple viewing, you know the saying "seen one seem them all." Not so at Ankor Wat. There are so many different Wats with varying histories all which were fascinating to explore.

Enjoy the following photos.

  2. Really great pictures. Especially loved the 3 boys looking out the temple windows and the two heads replacing the missing heads on statue; however, all pictures are fascinating. xoxo
